Mrs. Kelly Vujea

My name is Kelly Vujea (pronounced fuchsia but with a V!) This is my 13th year as an elementary teacher. I am originally from Haslett, Michigan, and went to Haslett High School. I attended Michigan State University and graduated with my BS in Child Development and my Masters in Arts in Educational Technology. I started at Michigan State University as a three year old. I attended preschool at Michigan State Lab Preschool. Go Green! Having an amazing school experience inspired me to become a teacher.

My teaching career started in Okemos, MI where I was a student teacher in a first grade classroom. After completing my student teaching, I moved to Wisconsin where I taught 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Language Arts. I then moved to a 1st grade classroom for two years. After three years, my husband and I moved back home to Michigan. We landed in Traverse City. I was a long term sub, with both Traverse City Area Public Schools and Glen Lake Community Schools. Following this, I was hired to teach the Great Start Readiness Program with TCAPS at Long Lake. The last 6 years, I have been at Cherry Knoll as a 4th or 5th grade teacher.

I am married to my college sweetheart, Matthew. We have two beautiful daughters who keep us very busy! Lilly, is 6 and in first grade and Sophie, is 3 and in preschool. We also have a mini golden doodle named Daisy. We enjoy playing outside and enjoying all that Traverse City has to offer. In the fall and spring the girls play soccer and in the winter Lilly plays basketball where I am her coach.  We also enjoy skiing together as a family.
